4:00 PM Mary Ellen Hannibal - "The Spine of the Continent: The Most Ambitious Wildlife Conservation Porject Ever Undertaken" Where: Cline Library Auditorium
Author Mary Ellen Hannibal traveled from Canada to Mexico to research her new book, The Spine of the Continent, about saving Rocky Mountain biodiversity in the face of climate change and habitat fragmentation. From eminent scientists hammering out the tenants of conservation biology, to a hairdresser who relocates beaver, Hannibal has entertaining -- and important -- stories to tell about creatures like wolves, grizzlies, pika and jaguar, the history of how our landscape came to its sorry state today, and what can be done to heal it. The presentation includes a slide show and book signing.

7:00PM Better World Film Series Presents "4 Stories of Water" Where: Gardener Auditorium, Franke College of Business
Dii'go To Baahaane: Four Stories about Water" is a documentary that portrays a four part meditation on the problems faced by Navajo people with drinking water contaminated by uranium mining. The film is mostly in the Navajo language with English subtitles, and reveals the incredible stories of people who are struggling as well as the people who are trying to help. It was developed by the Multicultural Alliance for a Safe Environment, a coalition that represents "communities working to restore and protect the natural and cultural environment through respectfully promoting intercultural engagement among communities and institutions for the benefit of all life and future generations.”

A discussion will follow the film conducted by Robert Tohe from the Sierra Club here in Flagstaff and Petuuche Gilbert and Laura Watchempino who are affiliated with the MASE Coalition. Petuuche and Laura are both Acoma Pueblo and work with the Laguna Acoma Coalition for a Safe Environment.

The second annual Green Fund Symposium is an opportunity for all of the Green Fund projects to showcase their work to the student body and staff on campus. Each of the projects will have visual representation of what their project is about, and some will be demonstrating how their projects work. Come and see how your $5.00 per semester green fee is working for you!

The TRASH-TO-TREASURE-TRIBUTE is a fun day out celebrating creative trash reduction through interactive games, free community swap, ongoing recycled art workshops, trashy fashion show, trash model car derby, live music and more! The event is free and open to the public! Occurring on Global Youth Service Day (April 27th) this event can also be used by different groups for their service and volunteer hours.
