Carbon Neutrality by 2020
Located on the Colorado Plateau and surrounded by national forests and parks, Northern Arizona University is situated in a unique regional ecosystem rich in biodiversity. This environment forms the foundation for the university's commitment to creating a vibrant and sustainable community.
President John D. Haeger has pledged to make the University a Carbon Neutral Campus by the year 2020. The strategic plan for this goal is outlined in NAU's Climate Action Plan and is a collaboration of many university departments working on sustainability initiatives including: building projects, operational efficiency upgrades, dining operations, and instilling an appreciation for sustainability into curriculum and research.
Northern Arizona University's Climate Action Plan is available to view on the ACUPCC website and can also be found here: NAU's Climate Action Plan.
Included as part of our commitment to Carbon Neutrality by 2020, the University reports on updates for our Climate Action Plan. We invite you to view our most recent ACUPCC Progress Report.
